The drawback of diving with air is it limits your no-deco time. Diving Nitrox gives you longer bottom times and shorter surface intervals — especially when using a dive computer.
Nitrox is a gas blend with more oxygen and, therefore, less nitrogen. Nitrogen is what limits bottom time. The less you breathe, the longer you can stay.
The depth limit for the most common Nitrox blend (EAN32) is 34 m/111 ft. If you stay within the recommended depth limit for sport diving of 30 m/100 ft, this gives you a 3 m/10 ft safety margin.
Complete this course before you do your initial open-water training dives and receive both certifications.
