About

Underwater, there’s nothing like being in control. Divers must be able to master buoyancy and know the care and operation of their equipment.

Imagine yourself at the end of a dive with no rope to hold onto during your ascent. Let’s go one step farther and say that boats are running around overhead. With 1,500 psi or less, aluminum tanks float. Are you confident in your ability to control your ascent?

In class, we discuss how to care for dive equipment and use your weight system, BC and breath control to manage buoyancy precisely. In the water, you will learn to make yourself look like a fish rather than a baboon. This horizontal position keeps your lungs and air supply at the same level and pressure. This way, you move less water, use less energy and conserve air.
